There are three things you can do to jazz up your fall wardrobe without breaking the bank. I have three words for you: Accessories and Eyeliner.
With these three simple things, you can take your already existing fall wardrobe from BLAH to BLING! Add some eyeliner and you are good to go.
Get it, Wear it, Own it. A scarf can dramatically change your wardrobe and there are so many different variations. Gone are the days when you can only wear a scarf with a coat! You can pair a scarf with a cute sweater and leave it on all day long! You can wear them in a casual setting or you can jazz them up for the office. They also come in different textures so if you live in a warmer climate you can still work this into your wardrobe.
(2) Boots and Loafers
When shopping for boots, you want to think about two things:
(a) Are they practical? I realize red might be in season this year but are you going to get red boots and then have them sit in your closet because you can’t figure out what to wear them with? Black, Brown, Navy & Tan are safe neutrals that you can pair with anything.
My new find of the year are my Hunter Rain Boots. The styles today are cute and practical. Quite frankly, I was a bit tired of having wet toes on the soccer field. Look how cute they are! Bring on the rain, baby!
Ok, I almost can’t believe I am writing this. Take a seat – loafers are back in style. I couldn’t help but LAUGH when I saw a penny in a loafer in very prominent department store yesterday. Seriously, could penny loafers be back in style? At first I thought – YUCK! But then I tried one on. I was curious. I would not categorize myself as a penny loafer kind of gal. The lady came over with the box. I checked to see if anyone was watching….. I tried them on. Oh boy, these felt pretty darn good. I asked her jokingly if she had some with heels (I was joking!!!) but when she said yes, I laughed. We both laughed. Now we’re talking! What can I say, I’m petite! They were cute, they were fun, they were comfortable. I can wear them to work, I can wear them with jeans. I was sold! Come on now, you know your jealous!
Of course, because I’m always thinking of you working moms, especially those of you that commute, a pair like these Isaac Mizrahi loafers are a great way to save your feet while you trek into the office. For $50.00 your feet will say thank you.
I haven’t worn eyeliner in years, until recently. Now, I can’t help but notice how this makeup technique has really taken off again. My memory of eyeliner was smearing it on the LOWER INSIDE of my eyelid when I was in high school… in black of course. Today, eyeliner has come a long way with a variety of colors to choose and boy if applied correctly really can take you from boring to brilliant in about 10 seconds. Here are a few of my favorites ….
(1) Mally Waterproof Eyeliner Collection. You will put this on in the morning and it will last ALL day. Mally offers great color selections.
(2) Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner by Sephora – Comes in a variety of color choices. My personal favorite is the SLATE
Eyeliner is a great way to change your look from day to night. If you prefer to not wear too much to the office or during the day you can save your eyeliner for evening events and nights out – you will love how it changes your look.
Following Trends are fun but can be very expensive. Looking great is possible without spending a fortune. Accessories are a great way to up the ante on things you already own. Color Trends come and go every year. At the end of the day, my philosophy is (and I’ve said this before) to listen to your inner voice. You know what colors look good on you and my suggestion is you stick with that.
