It was created by Melissa Potvin a full time working mom of 3 and was born out of a desire to document her children’s special moments that seemed to be passing by so quickly. Being an avid lover of all things technology – Melissa decided it would be best to create a blog. Girliemom started out as a personal blog but within only a few months went ‘mainstream’ and seemed to catch the attention of many like-minded mom bloggers that shared in similar situations.
Within the first year, Girliemom expanded reach to social platforms Facebook and Twitter. Over the course of that same year, Girliemom remained focused on generating strong content on topics: Beauty & Style, Cosmetics and Skincare, Organizing and even tackled the often debated topic of Work-Life Balance.
Staying true to her voice, Melissa set forth to document her challenges and triumphs related to working full time while balancing family and everything in-between. Most recently, Melissa was front and center in the news debating the Work from Home debacle sparked by Yahoo’s recent decision to ban telecommuting. By publishing her thoughts immediately, she was one of the first mom bloggers to hit the news on this topic and as such garnished tremendous attention for the Girliemom blog (you can watch those videos here).
Balancing family with a career is complicated. There are days when I think to myself “what in gods earth should I do first?” When those moments strike, I take a deep breath, and then focus on doing one thing at a time. Eventually, everything get’s done.
It was not long after that that Girliemom became a multi author blog and started to then venture off into producing even more content and building relationships. “I knew my sister had to start working with me. For starters, I trust her completely and can’t think of anybody else that I would want to share this journey with.”
Stephanie Mazzoni, has since introduced her own unique voice to the blog and enjoys sharing book reviews and family recipes with her readers. She is also the driving force behind many of the beauty finds you see featured on the Girliemom blog.
Stephanie is also spearheading many other initiatives for Girliemom including: managing critical relationships with PR companies and Marketing Firms. Through the tireless work of both Melissa and Stephanie, Girliemom is now front and center with many brands that have household name recognition. Stephanie said, “Working with brands is exciting and we have big plans to do even more with them!”
Girliemom blog is now boasting over a thousand email subscriptions and has a significant social media footprint predominately on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Girliemom now has their eyes set on Instagram and LinkedIn as the next major social hubs to tap into amongst other things….
